Independence Day 2014

Independence is a condition of a nation, country, or state in which its residents and population, or some portion thereof, exercise self-government, and usually sovereignty, over the territory. The opposite of independence is a dependent territory. Independence does not necessarily mean freedom. (as defined by Wikipedia)

That last part was a surprise to me. As an American, I have always thought of the two (independence and freedom) as one and the same.

But today, July 4, 2014, I know that I am independent and free.
I am proud and thankful to be an American citizen!
I am glad to have a day to celebrate those gifts with friends and family.
And I hope you find yourselves equally proud and thankful today too.
Happy 4th of July!

Happy Flag Day!

I'm a Yankee Doodle Dandy
A Yankee Doodle, do or die
A real live nephew of my Uncle Sam
Born on the Fourth of July

I've got a Yankee Doodle sweetheart
She's my Yankee Doodle joy
Yankee Doodle came to London
Just to ride the ponies
I am the Yankee Doodle Boy

Let Freedom Ring!!

May the sun in its course visit no land more free, more happy, more lovely, than this our own country! ~Daniel Webster

God Bless the USA!

And God bless you and yours as you celebrate your freedom this Independence Day.

Long May She Wave

This nation will remain the land of the free only so long as it is the home of the brave. ~Elmer Davis

Would we all agree that freedom and bravery go hand in hand?
Would we all agree on what danger and destruction looks like?

These are defining times that we live in. Let us live them on purpose!
