Big Rain
I am in Anderson, Ca this weekend for my final quilt show of the season.
As I was leaving the building tonight I got caught in a BIG rain storm.
And when I say BIG, I mean:
Big purple lightning, and Big rolling thunder, and Big gusty winds, and Big fat rain drops, and little jagged hail stones pinging off the cars. It took about 1 minute for the street to go from dry to puddled, and about 3 seconds for the human body to go from dry to soaked through. It was wonderful! It may even be the BEST rain storm I have ever gotten caught in.
So, if you like to quilt and you like rain, come and see me tomorrow (or Saturday or Sunday).

Summertime
Did you enjoy your beautiful summer weekend?
Oh really, what did you do??
Here's how we celebrated summer this weekend....
We decided to forgo our favorite box fan, and embrace a nice cozy fire instead.
And flip flops...totally out! We went with Irish wool socks and slippers.
And those plans for a light and delicious summer salad were reworked into a yummy bowl of HOT tomato soup.

And sunshine...well that was nowhere to be seen either.

COLD!
It has been cold lately. Even on the central coast of California.
41.5 degrees in the middle of the afternoon. That was several days ago.
41.5 degrees in the middle of the afternoon. That was several days ago.
Now, we are on a road trip, and it is even colder!
13 degrees in Amarillo tonight. And it is only 10pm!!
And, here is an interesting phenomenon.
Everywhere we go, everybody is watching the weather channel.
Truck stop for gas and a potty break: the weather channel.
Carl's Jr for some iced tea: the weather channel.
Target because I forgot my hairspray: the weather channel.
The hotel lobby: the weather channel.
Thanks to all this weather channel-ing, I can tell you that it is supposed to get down to 3 degrees tonight, with a strong wind advisory. Not good news for this California girl who does not even own a jacket!
And, one more thing. Our windshield is in need of washing. But......

Visions of Autumn
Last year, my friend Heidi and I spent a day together, enjoying autumn activities. We had such a great time that we decided to do it again this year. We headed out to Sea Canyon to pick apples and then to LOVR to buy pumpkins and then back into town to visit the Goodwill Outlet.
We had a great time, except that it was 112 degrees in SLO last week when we went! And the pumpkin farm was closed! And they did not have the kind of apples (Pearmain) that Heidi wanted!

No, but really, we had a great time!!
That is the beauty of hanging out with girlfriends.
So here are some photos of the days bounty.

Where's the Heat?
Today is July 26th.
JULY.
It should be nice and hot.
HOT.
But it isn't.
My indoor/outdoor thermometer says it is 64 and 63 degrees respectively.
That's it. The low 60s. In the North County. In July. During the Fair!!
What is going on??

My summertime needs are so not being met! I think someone should hold an intervention or something. Maybe a pow-wow or a prayer meeting or even a Summit. Or better yet, how about a BBQ or a beach bonfire or even a movie night in your backyard. And while you're at it, could you please invite me and my guy?!
So, to close out this post, here is a little more whining.

What is with this crazy weather?!
Heat stroke one week, sweatshirts and slippers the next. Good grief!
