Family Matters

It has been a little while since I made any postings. We have been busy saying good-bye to my dear brother, as he lost a battle with cancer. It was a tough time, but we certainly found God to be strong and faithful on our behalf, once again. Psalm 121 has become very precious to me and Luke 15:10 also brings great joy to my soul.
This picture is so special to me because it marks the last time we will stand together on this side of glory.

And this picture is the first in a long time of the cousins together. And, even so it is lacking because our two newest cousins, twins only a month old were not big enough to travel all the way out here for the service.
Now it is painfully obvious, isn't it, that my brothers have produced tall children while I have grown some little short ones! What's up with that?

Prowlers

Yesterday Grandpa George came by and pruned up my bank of lavender and daisies. So, this morning there were plenty of tasty bits to beckon the deer in for breakfast. This was the scene at 7am.

And last week a flock of turkeys had congregated in the driveway and up on the garden fence. Guess they were looking for some tasty tidbits, too. Actually it is a good place for them to eat. A LOT of acorns fall onto our driveway. So, as we drive in and out, they get all smashed up. It's like a little turkey smorgasbord!

My 2009 Piecemakers Progressive Quilt

This is my 2009 Piecemakers progressive, all finished up!

I started it with 6 of the nine-patch variation blocks and 4 green four-patches. The four patches were cut up to make points for the fans and a couple more nine patches were made. From there all manner of wonderful things happened, and viola this little beauty was born!

Many thanks to Linda, Linda, Melanie, Lucretia, Vangie, Le, Laura, and Launi. You girls are the BEST! I just love every single thing you did!

Spring Has Sprung?

We finally took our Christmas tree down. We like to put our tree in front of the bay window, it looks nice there, and it is really the only place for it. The down side, is that it blocks almost all of the natural light that comes in through that window.

Every year it, as soon as the tree comes down, it seems like spring to me. The whole room lights up and looks so bright a lovely. And, it seems so much bigger. Today it was quite nice outside and the sun was streaming in so beautifully.

My living room looks totally bare in this photo, but it isn't!
Now, the little quilt on top of the trunk is new. I made several of them as Christmas gifts, and this one was extra. Lucky me!

My New Pink Thermos

Ok, this last summer, my family took a little vacation in Ireland. We had the absolute best time ever! The countryside and the people were wonderful. The driving was a little scary, but we survived.

So, while we were there we discovered the most FABULUOS store in the whole wide world. It is called Avoca, and we could not get enough of it. Well, my sweet hubby could. He was over it in about 2.5 seconds. But, he sat outside and chatted with the security guard while we shopped. Every half an hour or so, he would come in and remind us that he was still alive, and let us know where we could find him if we ever decided to leave!

Well, while we were there we bought some wonderful Christmas presents. My daughter, Becca, bought this thermos for me. I had been so tempted to buy it for myself, but I could not decided if I wanted a pink one or an ice blue one. And, buying both was out of the question.

What a FABULOUS surprise to get one for Christmas! And it looks so nice sitting on my white counter top. LOVE it. Thanks B.... (censored nickname for my sweet little daughter who cannot bare the idea that the "whole world" knows the little nickname her mother calls her)

New Year's Eve Blue Moon

This was the how the blue moon looked from our front porch. It was the first one since 1990, the year Becca was born. So, she was feeling special last night.

We had a nice group of friends over last night to help us ring in the new year. It was a great time, but midnight sure does seem to come later and later!

Happy New Year from me to You!
