Day 10: Butter Molds

We stopped by a farm museum to see one of their advertised displays. Sadly, it turned out to be a dud. But, there was a nice little collection of butter molds. The designs were so lovely, and they kicked my little brain into applique mode. Maybe they will inspire you too!

Day 9: Coaticook Gorge

Coaticook Gorge is home to the world's longest suspended footbridge, as certified by the Guinness Book of World Records. Can't just drive by that!

So, this freaked my guy out a little bit. The height combined with the sway. He says he was just nervous, but he looked a-scared to me. Actually, my guy is not a scaredy cat. He can count 4 whole times in his entire life when he felt actual fear. Three of them involved heights (not counting this time, which was "just nervous") and the fourth time involved me. It was early in our marriage and I had been pressed into service as his assistant. I was holding a board that he was cutting. The saw skipped, and he thought he had cut my arm off. He hadn't, but it scared. But I digress...

It was a lovely hike. And that final picture.... the beginnings of a BIG downpour of rain right after we got back to the car!

Day 8: Ile d'Orleans

This auto tour of the Ile d'Orleans is, with out a doubt, my favorite day so far.
The island itself is easy to access and the self guided tour has been clearly laid out by those in charge. And each and every stop is just fantastic!

The island is very agrarian, and the farmers aren't just farmers they are also artisans who offer their harvests for sale in all manner of wonderful ways. And the diversity in products...amazing. There are wine and cheese makers. Vinegar makers and apple orchards. Cideries and bakeries. Breweries, butchers, fish places and fruit stands. Then there are fine artisans who offer all manner of art from canvases to glass and jewelry and pottery. There are old churches and garden shops and even a few restaurants and hotels. And of course, nice people and lovely homes.

Day 7: Heritage Estates Tour

Back to Quebec City for the Heritage Estates tour. There were 12 stops but apparently I forgot about the camera after stop 1. So, here is a peek of Parc du Bois de Coulogne.

Day 6: More Gardening

Day 6: Montreal

We made a trip into Montreal with the intention of seeing it all. But, it took us 3 1/2 hours to get there, and then we had to pop back into the US to tie up a few loose ends, so the day got a little tight. We did get to enjoy a chunk of the botanical garden, but seriously, this is by far the biggest and BEST one we have ever seen and we only just scratched the surface.
